engine size QLD ?

great site has been very helpful .
how do they work out max engine size in qld ?
i want to build car to suit qld and nsw as
i live in nsw but will evetuly move to qld .
the car to be will be a ek or fb .
cant deside between the two .
any or all qld rules would be great .

Can't really answer your question as Idon't live in QLD but I'd give a call to the QLD transport authorities or whatever they are called up there.They should be able to answer your question or give you the names of approved regognised Automotive Engineer signitories that could help you.

I'm currently building a V8 FB up here in sunny QLD,


Interesting fact,


The FB can only legally run a 307

The EK you would think is the exact same car.... but you can put a 327 legally into an EK.

No idea whats different


You'd want to get in touch with a guy called John Keane, John Kean. I dont know how it's spelt but he can tell you all the in's and outs of getting your pride and joy rego'd with a v8.

You'll need various things.

Disc brake front end
Chassis Kit
Rear window dimister
window washer squirty things that go on the window and all sorts of stuff

He'll be able to tell you.

But yeah you might find that queensland is a better place to get your car done.


Vic is better, i heard you can put a 400 chev in them down there.

But yeah,

once i decide it will only take six mounth,s to build .

Yep,
Ive only taken 6 months from start to finish. Thats 1 month in 1997, 2 months in 1998 and the last 3 in 2006!

Hey Ricky,
1st Welcome,
2ndly there is not enough 24hrs in the day when it comes to building a project.
I know these guys in the states claim they can redo a whole car in a weekend, but look how many blokes they have workin on it, Proberly 220 on average and they only show a handfull when the jobs done, Mine has taken only 8mths to complete working proberly 40hrs a day but then again its not the standard EK, that was over a 6 year period with not much help from mates. You need a lot of commitment and if you have to farm work out a lot of Dollars come in handy.

But good luck and hope you stick with it, I know plenty of people who start, then it gets out of hand and to much for them to ever complete their projects.

The guy to call in QLD is John KEAN, you can call him on 0409627336. I'll give you a tip, don't call and talk like a smart ass because he will tell you to f*#k off real quick. I've known John for about 20 years and there is nothing he doesn't know about early Holdens and what you can and can't do.
I'm currently putting a supercharged v6 into my FB.

but i was told 307 / 308 is the bigest allowed in qld ?
if that is the case then i will put 307/308 in it down here and save me having to build 2 motors .

I'm not saying it can't be done, and I'm sure I can speak for everyone else on this site that if you put your mind to it, you can do it. I owned a panel shop for 13 years and when I did my Mustang it still took me 18 months to get it to show quality, and that was working on it every day.

I envy anyone who can do a full modified rebuild in 6 months, I'm 43 years old now and my last weekend consisted of 1 day spent looking for things I put in a safe place (never to be seen again), gee that s*#ts me. But I will press on hoping to oneday finish my project.

hi all .
i went n had a look at the fb today .
how can i tell if it has hr front cross member ?
the bloke that has it said it is hr drum .
what is the diffrance between fb / hr ?
as he wants extra $400 with front cross member .
the only reason i arsk is he dosent sound conferdent about it .
and as for the six mounth build the only thing that may hold me up
will be the intearea . ( as i dont have any mates in that trade )
