FB 'Plastic'

Here's a couple of shots of 'Plastic' the FB. Steve Jackson gave the car this name because it had plastic on the seats and door cards when he owned it (unfortunately removed by the last owner). I've put a post in 'parts wanted' for some FB hubcaps to replace the ones with the H medallions that are currently on the car. I think there can be such a thing as too much Nasco, and this car is a little over-cooked at the moment.

This is taken by my neighbour as it was arriving in Perth a couple of week's ago:


I'm thinking about removing the 'special' stars off the spats, fender ornaments off the tops of the fenders and putting standard hubcaps back on. What do you think?

All of these pics are a bit low res. When I get back to Perth I'll take some clearer ones and some shots of the engine bay and underside.

I'd sort of leave it the way it is. Not over cooked at all.

The only thing I'd change is maybe remove those dress trims .

Yeah, I think the dress trims are EJ/EH? I've got some new whitewalls that have a 2&3/4" white band, so the wheels might be a bit overpowering with all that glitz. I've got 1 NOS FB hubcap that I can play around with to see what looks best.

Nice purchase MeFB . Agree with over-cooked, but i guess you can add/delete as the mood suits. Like the look in the 1994 pic ie no spat stars, standard hupcaps and by the look no gaurd spears (or fender mirrors) drop her a couple of inches and drive the wheels of her

If you ever do want to re"plastic" the car I can give you the details of a great trimmer who can remake the plastic seat covers to original specs
great to see the car being loved once more.

Most of the stuff you don't like can be easily sorted by replacement items but those fender spears ain't stuck on with double sided tape ! I like the spears better than the two dirty big holes they'll leave behind and the correctional work you'll need. Besides they a still a kosher addition.

I am still puzzled by the idea of putting glad wrap on the seats though - better still get a couple of Mexican rugs, and while you're at it drop the centre of gravity 2"

It's a gorgeous example as is. I love changing things but if i had one like that i wouldn't change a thing. Except some fuzzy dice lol

New plastics have been ordered from Paul at Supertrim

Apparently Paul's dad was making the same clear covers 'back in the day' and the ones he makes now are exactly the same. It would have been better to still have the originals, but these will at least preserve the seats for a few more years to come.

I bought mine from autobarn or something like that. There's probably better ones out there but they're only a decoration so who cares - they look right
