All the ones I've pulled apart had fencing wire used, twisted shut then carefully bent to fit :oops:

whatever does the job hey, might have to raid the nut and bolt jar for a snap ring or circlip etc that will fit.

If you walk into a fastener specialist. ( eg Coventry bolts) with your hand brake handle in hand they'd be sure to find a C clip that will fit nicely.

I used a circlip and it works fine .

I have found them in the rubber boot a few times, or sitting on something if the clip has fallen out of the boot.
