Floor shift back to Column.....!

Post by Mai Ki-Ki »

My floor shifter is old and worn (side linkage on the original 3 speed) and causing grief at the moment, with 2nd not engaging tonight and a broken selector shaft a couple of months ago. It's also hangs very low under the car.
I want to swap it back to the stock 3 on the tree location....no linkages left underneath though.....so would have to source it all and reassemble....

...anyone done this fro scratch...? Tips...?

The linkages attach straight to the column just above the steering box, so if its all still there it should only be a matter of putting the gearstick back in the honeypot and attaching the linkages to the box and column. I'll see if I've got any linkages at home over the weekend if I get a chance.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

I think from memory the linkages from the honey pot to above the steering box are there, just the linkages from there on down to the box are missing.....hoping this might be something I can achieve easily with the right pieces and a few photos of a standard set-up.....! :)

Brett, half my car will have come from your shed at this rate!

PS. those interior chrome trims came up beautifully....!

Yeah funny about that, especially considering I only stripped one car for parts. I've ended up with bits hardly anyone ever needs, you've just been lucky!

Even moreso now, should be really easy once you get the linkages to het it all working again.

I've got some linkages to the gearbox if you want them.
Just send me a PM.
