Painting engine bay

Post by Trev »

With the nats behind us I got enthusiastic about getting my EK to next years in SA.
Out with the engine, steering column and stripped the engine bay.
Welded up the excess holes and primed over the old paint and sprayed with black paint which reacted with the old paint  .
So I have started again with stripping the whole bay again  , this time I am trying to remove all the paint.
I have most of it stripped but am having trouble getting every scrap out of the corners etc.
What would be a primer that will cover any left over paint that I cant remove and won't react?

If your using acrylic Trev , the thinners is more volatile and will react can ue retarder thinners to try and slow it down but the best way Go get some isololater acts as a barrier between the paint, make sure you were a mask potent stuff, I know how you feel just finished painting mine yesterday , no reaction , but what a pig of a job getting into some spots. plus one thingled to another and the Fb is spread all over the garage

I'll use 2pac if I have to, thats what the outer panels are painted with.
Trying to get one part done at a time so the car stays looking like a car  .
My plan is to get the engine bay done and back together before doing 1 door at a time.
