2 speed wiper wiring question

hi , i put a wiper motor out of a vn comm onto my mounting plate ,
easy three new holes and make an arm to suit as the wrecker kept the vn one ( ????)
one inch being the critical dimension
drive an old car cos i like chrome so the modern plastic switch not doing it for me
so i used on / off / on ,and a momentary on for the squirter
yay 2 speeds !
LEAVING 2 wires free on the wiper motor ,,,,,, to do with the park function i think

im thinkig one should be powered ( ? all the time ) and one is earth

or one is fast park and one is slow park ?

any one know ?

Best to google a VN wiring diagram - if you cant nut it out post a link and we will sort it out.

From what I can work out -
The wiper motor will most likely have 5 wires -
1 - Positive power from fuse / battery (fuse 14 on VN, Brown)
2 - Earth (Black)
3 - Park (Yellow)
4 - Low speed (either Red or Green)
5 - High speed (either Red or Green)
Hope the colors match up to what you have and this may help.

hi thanks for the replies
the vn diagram i found was a bit soft and i found it hard to read as i am not using the vn switch
and the switching is the part i need to nut out

do i flash power to the park wire or earth ?

I would have a look at the following instruction sheet from Castle Auto Elec in Vic.
It is for their wiper kit for FB etc.
Last page show a switch diagram. They have a switch 75228-03 which is most likely a generic type switch.
It shows the 5 wires etc which may help or spark off some other ideas or questions.

spark ! dont say that word ! i blew a LOT of fuses while i worked out my swap meet switch was well and truly cactus !
thanks that makes a lot of sense but a feel a relay coming on .......
will go and have a play
interesting to notice no one is mentioning intermittent on these modern wiper conversions
i know there used to be kits for that

I have just had my wipers (standard electric) converted to 2 speed with a magic box with wires coming out, and about 30 min with a mate wiring it in and it works great .
Please don't ask what he did, it's all which craft to me .

Ok I'll come clean, I came up with the magic box when I was designing the two speed system for my FB project. My
Magic box also includes an intermittent mode, then attached to a three position switch at the existing wiper switch point. So I suppose the extra intermittent bit takes it from witch craft to just being in league with Beezlebub himself! Feel free to ask how I did Trevs.

bezelbub ? yair i know him pretty well ! had a lot to do with him while i got the efi going.......
i reckon id be pretty good at electrical work if the parts i was wiring up actually worked !

in this case i have been providing power with the switch , but i have a suspicion i should be sending earth instead as it launches with no soft start
but the intermittent function would be cool as we have 2 speed rain up here !

My magic box involved a couple of relays and some semiconductors for the speed control. I'll sketch a diagram and send it when I get a chance. If you've got half a brain you could build one, I did and I've only got half a brain. The basic setup without intermittent has been working fine in Trevs wagon now for a while, and it's been raining here in Melbourne.

Had a butchers at that thread on the Fc forum, it seems they are still talking two speed motors. I designed the magic box to deal with an original one speed motor. The other thing the box does is I have incorporated the washer switch, so it gives a wipe when you poke the washer button.

Right, here is the basic circuit as is wired into Trev's wagon. When low speed is selected, only the "on" relay energizes, grounding the sw terminal of the wiper motor. The batt feed comes in via the two bridge rectifiers, which drops 3.5-4 volts. This brings the wiper speed down to about two thirds, which i reckon is a more normal wiper speed anyway. When high speed is selected, both relays are energized and the bridges are bypassed. So the motor gets the full whack. It's designed to go straight into a standard circuit with the single speed motor. On my car, the slow rate is about 35 cycles per minute, on high it's about 55 cycles per minute. My engineer for my project FB wants >45 w/m at high speed, so it works for me!

cool ,those are great speeds ! my last ek had factory (?) 2 speed and i had to silicone the screen AND take an average over 15 seconds and multiply by 4 to pass inspection.....
