LOWERED FRONT SUSPENSION

Post by OLDBLU »

today i went to a peddars suspension joint to enquire about lowered front springs. What i was old was the the height of the lowered springs with 13 inch rims is 495 mm(this height taken from bottom of rim to the underside of lip on the guard).
The computer there did not specify what distance the springs where shortened.
the bloke believes it would be 2 inches.
I went home and measured that distance on my car-it was 485mm already- i dont know if its been lowered before-it doesnt seem that low -it also doesnt look high.
can someone else with 13inch rims please check this distance for me...
would be helpful...cheers brett

There's your first mistake

Did you check what size tyre? profile and width can change the height by a fair amount.

HI -no -BECAUSE THE DISTANCE IS TAKEN FROM THE RIM AND NOT THE GROUND THE DISTANCE DOES NOT CHANGE-but a 13inch rim is what is needed to compare against...

Cleaned it up for ya Blu , my ute has 2" lowered King springs in it on a king pin front - I will measure the distance for you tonight mate.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Check your bump stops - if they are only about an inch from the crossmember then its got lowered springs fitted already.

Blu,

My FB Special sedan is 510mm from bottom of rim to guard lip - pretty confident that the only fingerprints on the springs are from GMH employees.

Maybe I got the special NASCO Gasser option  8) .

I went to measure mine last night - when I was standing in front of it I realised there was no motor or box in the bloody thing :? so there was no point measuring

thanx Harv- - i will double check my measurements again just to check- idid have a box of magazines and a seat sitting on bonnet which may have effected my measurements.
But to forget that there was no motor or box in gave me a good laugh.
