Hi guys,
I'm new on this site and have recently purchased an FB Panelvan. I'm having trouble adjusting the upper tailgate( The part with the window). It is a concern as exhaust fumes and rain are coming in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
FB Panelvan How do I adjust the upper tailgate
Re: FB Panelvan How do I adjust the upper tailgate
Gday Jayman
Firstly, welcome to the forum
Check all the rubber seals are not damaged, top and bottom tailgates, if not
It may take some re-aligning, the lugs bolted to the inside of the van,
that the upper tailgate locking rods, lock into, may need adjusting in a little.
How about chucking some pics up in the My FB EK section of your van.
Cheers
Jeff

Re: FB Panelvan How do I adjust the upper tailgate
Thanks Thommo for your information. I will try and uploads some photos asap. Just tryuing to figure out how.
Sorry about the delayed response, have been at wintersun.
I have tried adjusting the brackets inside the van, but no luck. Did you mean the 3 bolts on each side, that hold the bracket for the upper door to the roof? or the bolts that hold the bracket to the door?
Also, does anyone know where I can get the springs for inside the wiper arms?
Thanks mate.

Re: FB Panelvan How do I adjust the upper tailgate
Hey Jayman,
When Dave was initially adjusting my tail gate on my ute, He had to heat the hinges up with the oxy & then belt the crap out of them.... worked out real well...
We did this as we were re - painting so it didnt matter if we did cosmetic damage...

I meant the bottom latches, but the hinge may also need adjusting.
You could try on old trick that works on firdge seals, that is
close the fridge door with a piece of paper across the seal,
drag the paper out, and if there is resistance, the seal is good in that spot.
If the paper pulls out with no resistance, it isnt sealing.
Try this with the van tailgate, if there is no resistance across the top, adjust the hinges in.
No resistance across the bottom, adjust the brackets the tailgate lock rods sit behiend.
No resistance on the left side, adjust one hinge & one bracket in on that side.
You may even have to file out the bolt holes to achieve the best result, not
the threaded holes, the clearance holes on the latch or tailgate hinge itself.
Also check just how the tailgate sits in its opening, does it look to sit in the correct position.
No worries with the delayed response, I've been away to the nats
Cheers

Re: FB Panelvan How do I adjust the upper tailgate
Thanks everybody for your help.
I had some help from a friend and we soughted the problem out with a bit of bending and twisting of the brackets. They are really quite flimsy!!!
Where abouts would I source the rubber for around the back(Tailgate) doors?
Cheers
