any sucess,with these,bad points?,saw these on a Kombi at the local shops today and they looked good

Apparently they eat into the tyre sidewall. Plus some insurance companies won't allow them

I'm interested in anyones feedback on these. I am looking for a set for the FB, and was also wondering peoples experiences with them.

I used these same flappers for about six months with no issues. didn't do heaps of kms on them. They can be a bit fiddly to fit but the guys at unique tyres (where i got them from) had no issues fitting them correctly. It is recommended to run tubes in your tyres for obvious reasons.
I have heard they are an issue with insurance mobs, and i'm not 100% on this but depending on who you talk to the tubes may help with this? I did speak with the unique tyre guys at some length on this but the ol' memory is a bit hazy.

As for them cutting into your side wall I would suggest there is a whole range of factors here- whether or not your tyre has raised lettering, rim/tyre width combos, tyre pressure etc.
In my case I had 195 wide tyres on stock HT rims. When I sold them there was some small rub marks on the tyre but the outer edge of the flapper was starting to show more wear. This was something I paid attention to as it has been mentioned a fair bit on here before.
They also get softer with age, and if you get a little nick in the edge they can tear apart very easily.

Don't touch park on kerbs, make sure you get someone to fit them properly otherwise they slip out and don't do burnouts as they disintigrate. Also after a while they can cut into the sidewall as they flap while driving.

having said all that- for aprox. $200 to fit them with inner tubes and no issues. They looked the goods and I intend on getting another set for my current car.

Theres a set on my FC with very obvious wear to the sidewall ,I wouldnt drive on them at that point because there is a very obvious groove at the outer edge of the flapper. and this means the side wall has worn down to create it.
Also they squeak constantly as the load on the tyre sidewall at the road pushes outwards on the flapper.

I still like them but if there were an alternative that was decent value Id jump on it .

Just bought flappers for my newest project not so long ago .

Just replaced our set after 21/2 yrs daily driving and apart from the passenger front looking a bit sad they hold up well. They do cut the side walls in the first 6 months and then settle in. Although i did read the instructions this time and they recommend keeping them greased with a rubber compound grease whatever that is, to stop cutting the side wall. They were starting to squeak a bit in the end which was one of the reasons i replaced them. You need to break the tyre bead to fit them properly, and take your time re inflating the tyres to make sure they don't move. Sometimes takes a couple of goes. Good product for $120-$130 a set

I just wouldn't buy something that is pretend.
Just get proper whitewall tyres.

There still a good option for people who like the look of a thick white band on their tyres and don't have a spare $1200 bucks for 'real' ones

A mate was telling me yesterday that a freind of his supplies Kumho 13s and 14s with the white line for $375 a set of 4 on ebay from western sydney .

And I didnt think flappers were fake , havent they been around for years ! might go look up some history on em .....
