Rust on the underside of the bonnet

Post by Katchel7 »

Hello

I have looked at a few FBs and found that there is rust on the underside of the bonnet. It has not eaten away the metal, however looks more than just suface ruse - would i need to have this sanded back and repainted?

Cheers :?:

Hi Kat, depending on how original the car is. If the car is very original, then just hand cut and polish it back. May take a bit of elbow work. If the car has been repainted, then you can sand it back and blow paint in.

Hi Katchel,
as Steve says - I'd try cutting it before going to the trouble of spraying....
Mine has a fair bit of factory paint - but in parts they seemed to have pointed the gun in the opposite direction....
It will come up pretty good.... after you're done, try coating it with some wax.... NOT SILICONE based.... this should keep it in check until you are ready to re-coat the paintwork...
