Mate the car is coming along great,

I was the same when I did the yellow car, you'd spend a day in the shed with camera on hand for anything that you thought people would be interested in, and when finished, straight to the computer. It certainly helped to kept up my enthusiasm.

The work you're doing is very impressive and something you will be very proud of when finished.

It is truely a great experience building a car from scratch, but the true experience is every time you get in it and go for a cruise ....

Now having said that I will jump in the old yellow girl an go for a spin.

Keep up the good work and keep those pickies coming.

Today I finished the wiper motor. New Wiring, new color
Hooray The first part of the car is complete.......



Started the firewall. Welded up all the unnecessary holes and cut off all the wiring clips etc.......



Etched, primed and guide coated.......



Back out in the garage again tomorrow arvo.

Mate, I must say your keen, all that sanding off of the original paint. Or is it that your allergic to sand, you know, as in sandblasting

It doesn't take that long with a flapper wheel and a wire wheel.

At least I can say I've done every single thing myself

I got a feeling that this car will be a show stopper when its finished, have so much respect for you guys that are doing full bare metal rebuilds at home! Amazing!

Couple more rub backs and "guide coats" today on the firewall Trev

Should be ok for paint with light sand, but this can sit for a while now to let the filler and primer settle.

Started on the rest of the engine bay today, bit of welding up and cut the battery box out, not a lot done being Father's Day and all

When you're taking paint off with the flap disc, do you have to be careful to not take any metal as well? I use flap discs at work and I would have thought that you would be taking metal off and getting lots of highs and lows in your panels...
S'pose it depends on the grit size on the flap disc??

How much thinners do you put in when spraying killrust?Once again well done will be posting my update photos soon as i am up to what you are.Just stripped the firewall back to bare metal.

Paroharo - Yes I'm careful with the flap discs.
I use the leftover ones from all the welding, they've warn a lot.
The wire wheel gets into the corners etc. then I finish it by hand with a 60 grit so the filler etc can bite on.

NoMad - It's not that bad

t950cat - I put about 20% enamel thinners.
The can says 15% turps, but hey this works for me, the guy in the shop recommended the enamel thinners.

Got out to feed my addiction after work tonight.

Cut the drip rails off the insides of the bay after many mind changes
Finished welding a few rust patch-ups,
treated it with rust converter where needed
and this is what I ended up with...........
