NickZ wrote:the axles can be done, i shorten a vn diff 60mm each side for a project. the axles where resplined by building the the area with mig welding then cut the splines. the axles are in a 330hp 1000kg race car now for 3 years without a problem. I have removed them for diff centre changes and there is no unusual wear.
cost me $120 each axle, im about to do the same for my FC to keep the original track with 15x7 commodore steel rims im shortening it 50mm each side.
so thats how its done, thanks NickZ, I'll have to have a think about this,as i'm half way in finishing my diff

I am told that I may jag a lucky break as there may be an earlier model with a shorter axle that may fit.

went to a couple of axel shops today and spoke to the engineers, they can shorten the long alxe to fit the short axel no problems, they laughed at mig welding the short axel, they both said to look for a one tonner axle 770mm long, cut it and a little milling and that will fit, other wise, a billet axel,(what a shit fight),at least i know now, and i ordered my tailshaft
