I assume you have the proper stainless stuff ?? The trick to bending it is make sure the material can slide through the stainless so bend before cuttig, I normally use the door itself as a form to bend it around, on a sedan its only the top section of the rear doors that need to be curved from memory ? A 5" grinder with a 1mm cutting disc will cut it neatly.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Thanks Blacky. Yes the stuff with the stainless. Was just going to cut lengths for the tops and hinge sides. 1mm disc it is.

I use aviation snips. They do pinch the tube section but doesn't bother me.

Do people bend the channel at the top corner, or cut into two pieces and push together? What was it from factory?

I cut the sides at 45d leaving centre intact on the ute. On my sedan I just cut right through. You won’t bend it for a 90d corner. The rear window bends fine, as does commercial front window.

This is on my sedan. Original seals. Not sure if they were taken out during a closed door respray. Looks to be cut into seperate pieces? Sorry, head tilt required. But you get the idea..

Cheers, Andrew

Rings a bell that I've seen the channels cut square and overlapped from factory. There would have been variation between assembly lines no doubt, but certainly seen on some Adelaide cars.

Slow day today. Not in the right frame of mind....to attack bailey channel job.
Mucked around putting front door locking bits in. Having never locked an FB before, I just need to check in about key fittings. Do they only unlock, or are they supposed to lock as well? Depending on how I twiddle them I can get lock or unlock but not both. Naturally I set them to unlock, but am wondering if I'm doing something wrong. So much to learn, so little time😁.

Thanks Clay. Every bloody thing on these cars is finicky😒. There is not much that I just put the screws in and it's done. Everything is a #$%^ fiddle.

Could it be FB could only unlock, but EK progressed to both lock and unlock?
You know, like a prototype before the good one?

Actually I reckon Blackdog is on the money. I had a look at the EK ute today and it's lock rotates significantly more than my FB locks. The EK one will open and close the FB.
Wilma is a fairly early production number so maybe there was a change part way? Anyway Wilma will be unlocking only.
On another matter I fitted last of the door stainless today (bottom trim rear doors) and modified and repainted Rares trim fastener because all the others I had were too loose. Photo of what I mean attached.

Finally, fitted the bailey channel on tge passenger side doors this cold, wet arvo, with no particular dramas, but I can not get the Better Auto Rubber window felt strips/belts to clip in to the doors under any circumstances. I'm going to have a look at the Rares ones tomorrow to see if their round clip bit is any better. There is no indent in the BAR ones so they go in the holes but are not held (do not 'clip') in place.
