Yeah Mick, hard to be inspired when I keep imagining nice wheels, V8, low, custom door panels.......oh and as SunnyTim noted I have even used the wrong split pins and grease nipples!ratbox wrote:did you build the black car or somebody elseV8EK4us wrote:.......doing a "restorer" is very hard..... take my hat off to you guys![]()

Bit more progress, the kingpin and drum brake frontend got the better of me
........ changed the outrigger on a HR frontend I had and slotted it in this morning (appologies to the restorers). HR frontend has HQ discs....I have a set of torana discs and calipers that I will overhaul and fit so I can run original wheels (if I decide to).
This is were I got to before I changed my mind about the frontend.......

After a fleeting moment of stupidity.........

All bolted up, engine mount bolted and steering conected,= using the original EK steering link connected to the HR arms, everything clears well.

Hey Mick, if you had seen the rough, bodgy and crappy job someone had done on the engine mounts you would have knocked them off with a hammer too, that's all it took, no cutting requiredratbox wrote:you shoulda left the engine mounts on that front end you know you'll change the engine![]()

Thanks DR, I read your post yesterday (in "suspension and steering") where you said you used the EK steering and I thought...."that's a bloody great idea"! Thanks for the helpfull tip.Devilrod wrote:Easist way to do it, mine's the same. Can't blame you for using an HR disc brake front end Gaz..the drums are fine when fully reco'd but I love my HR front & Torrie disc's.
They certainly make stopping the thing with a lot less effort.
..And what was that fleeting moment of stupidity?? Is that blue Hammertone I see
..it would have looked like a tool box!
Scotty.
