did you build the black car or somebody else or do you mean it's hard to get inspired to go out and work on a resto
i'de love to do a kinda resto on the van but gray motors and parts (multi carbs, headers etc are just to expensive for me these days
Yeah Mick, hard to be inspired when I keep imagining nice wheels, V8, low, custom door panels.......oh and as SunnyTim noted I have even used the wrong split pins and grease nipples!
Maybe just should go with the flow and see what develops, one thing for sure it that it will be Grey powered! (or is the term "Powered" expecting a bit much )
Bit more progress, the kingpin and drum brake frontend got the better of me ........ changed the outrigger on a HR frontend I had and slotted it in this morning (appologies to the restorers). HR frontend has HQ discs....I have a set of torana discs and calipers that I will overhaul and fit so I can run original wheels (if I decide to).
This is were I got to before I changed my mind about the frontend.......
After a fleeting moment of stupidity.........
All bolted up, engine mount bolted and steering conected,= using the original EK steering link connected to the HR arms, everything clears well.
you shoulda left the engine mounts on that front end you know you'll change the engine might aswell leave the HQ brakes for the centrelines, do you think you'll use another commodore diff or a 9" this time

Hey Mick, if you had seen the rough, bodgy and crappy job someone had done on the engine mounts you would have knocked them off with a hammer too, that's all it took, no cutting required It was the worst job I heve ever seen and there is no way it could have got regoed like that .....................

Easist way to do it, mine's the same. Making good progress Gary.

Thanks DR, I read your post yesterday (in "suspension and steering") where you said you used the EK steering and I thought...."that's a bloody great idea"! Thanks for the helpfull tip.
Can't blame you for using an HR disc brake front end Gaz..the drums are fine when fully reco'd but I love my HR front & Torrie disc's. They certainly make stopping the thing with a lot less effort.
..And what was that fleeting moment of stupidity?? Is that blue Hammertone I see ..it would have looked like a tool box!
Scotty.

are the colours on the car the original colours ? have you considered them as a colour it's another nice original colour scheme, not that there's anything wrong with white it looks good on them aswell
