Yeas he blasted my 1 tonner, and my '64 Chev , and the chassis on my '57 - he has been doing it for years and knows what he is doing. He does car bodies all the time.

Progress to date. Almost completely stripped. Little bit more to do and then she can get blasted.

Still got the last few things to pull off the car (brake and fuel lines, wiring harness, heater, windscreen wipers) but thought I would start stripping the rear quarter and see what surprises lay underneath. Does anyone in Perth have the required tools (and would be prepared to give me a hand) to pull the dent out where the bumper bolts to?

Keep those pics coming mate.
And for what is worth, go the grey option :)

Drop a V8 into a HK HT or HG ute :) That's what I want to do in the near future.

So figured I'd just give an update on the progress (hopefully not bombarding you all with too many photos haha). Haven't had a lot of spare time over the last month so it's slow going but here's how she sits now. The rear quarters have both had the paint stripped and been sprayed with rust converter/primer.

My old man has been interested in getting involved in the project so he has volunteered to make the rotisserie for the car. As soon as that's finished and I finish the last couple things (remove pedal box, handbrake and dash knobs) it'll go up on the rotisserie and finally get sandblasted.

Cheers mate, I'm hoping that the blasting doesn't reveal any nasty surprises.

Haha yeh, thankfully I've got the tools to sandblast so that's at least not going to cost me. If it looks beyond repair I'll start keeping an eye out for another body and use this one for donor sections as there are some really good sections in the body and then there are some shit sections. I've held off investing any real $$ in the project yet until I see what lies under the rust and paint.

So my old man wanted to help out on the resto so he said he would build the rotisserie for the car. Obviously not finished yet. Will probably have a Fafnir Bearing on top to make it nice and easy to rotate the car.

While I was on holidays over christmas I picked up a second car. FB Special Sedan. Some of the repairs are really crude so after its been blasted I'll work out if its worth restoring or combine it with my EK to make one good car.

I am with Mick on this one , unless you are capable and have a lot of time and patience the rust repair's will stuff your budget . Also , if you plan on blasting it yourself and your not experienced then you are going to have bigger problem's with the body than the rust . Do yourself a favour and spend some money on a good shell as it will be cheaper than your rust repairs . You will save yourself a lot of time , money and heartache which will end up being an unfinished project that has sucked you dry .
In regards to a previous comment when you were thinking of installing a T56 . You need a lot more room than the auto tunnel can offer . Stand a better chance of fitting 9 stubbies in a 6 pack carry bag .
