The low pass filter ensures all frequencies that are used to generate bass are only passed on and all the high ones which a sub cannot replicate are cut out. Some amps have modules some a switch from my experience or you can run them through a crossover. Clear as Mud Blacky?

It's been well over fifteen years since I played around with stereo stuff! I reckon I'm way out of date... But I was fun! Had the system I built up tested at a show and measured at 124.6db. not bad for 2 100w rms amps

Devilrod is on the money a low pass filter kills all high frequencies so your sub just plays bass.

Fired it up last night , seems to work but the front speakers are nowhere near as loud as the back ones - close enough

Adjust the gain on the amp to match the front better.

Ok, so you can turn it down a bit to match the other speakers. Unless of course it's all the way down, then I'd say get another amp for the other speakers.... :
And that is usually how it always starts.....

The subdoofer is only there because there was a hole already cut in the panel behind the seat - the rear speakers are good , just the fronts are a bit quiet according to me mate who knows a bit about stereos - I couldnt give a rats to be honest , it all works thats the main thing .........................
