Good point about the 742 part number.

The EJ/EH washer kits go like this.
EJ RHD Exc. Prem Foot Operated Pump 7421798
EH RHD Exc. Prem Foot Operated Pump 7426281
EJ Exc. Prem Press Button Electric (7422054)7423295 Supersedes to EH type
EH Exc. Prem Press Button Electric 7423295

So the 7421835 part number was introduced after the EJ foot pump unit but before the EJ electric unit. It could well be that the all of the accessory electric kits weren't available at EJ release, even though the EJ Prem had the full electric pulse unit from Day 1.

Supersessions occur like this quite often. the FE/FC foot pump type wasn't made until after the FB release. That brings me to another point. I have part no. 7406683 for the FE/FC foot pump unit & part no. 7406685 for the FB foot pump unit. They could well be the same unit & one of these part numbers is a misprint. Can anybody conform.

I'll go back thru my literature, but all the info gathered on my lists were sourced from parts catalogues, accessory brochures, dealer price lists, Nasco bulletins & Accelerator magazines.

Hi Terry,

I got 7406685 for FB foot pump package (from HOLDEN "FB" Parts Catalogue Cat. No. M32643) and 7406683 for FE/FC from here (looks like a scan of the FC NAsco brochure): http://www.fefcholden.org.au/techinfo/n ... sh_fo.html

Bump for the month :( .

Would dearly love to get hold of:
 photos of an FB (or FE, FC) engine bay with original washers installed?
 pictures of a foot pump?
 Accelerator Magazine scans?
 EK installation instructions for vacuum washers?
 anything at all on the electric washers (anyone actually seen a set)?

As a side note, I've learnt:
 1961-65 Australian-assembled Studebaker Lark or Cruiser used the same vacuum washers as FB/EK, though only on local cars. The US-assembled Studebakers used a foot pump with a plastic bottle (1961-63) or red vinyl bag (1953-66).
 1949/1950/1951 Buick windshield washer pump appears identical to the vacuum washers for FB/EKs,
 1946-48 Buick,Cadillac and Lincoln Continental are also reported to have similar windshield washer jar/bottles, though are rare as rocking-horse poo.
 a lot of the vacuum washer parts are being repro'd in both the UK and US... not cheap, but not too far off what you pay for original NASCO ones here... will include contact details in the document.

The document is looking good, but I could really do with some help on the bits above (pretty please... any NSW Club guys want to help out?).

Hi harv

Recently been having troubles with my FB and googling to find stuff when i found all these car club forums. ( Ive learnt a little bit more about the car i have owned for 15 years now )
when i first bought the car one of the conditions of roadworthy was to get the washers working,

I have the the push button type which runs a hose to a big glass jar and then back to the base of the wipers where it then squirts onto the windshield.
However 15 years ago i could not get it to function and replaced it with what was supose to be a temporary eletric washer out of an unknown later model.

I could throw the glass jar back in and hook up the rubber hoses if you like?. take a picture and paste it here maybe tomorrow or sometime on the weekend as im working on the car at present.

I believe thats what you are looking for yes ?
the vacum wipers work.... well ok not up hill
if i had any idea on how the push button system was to work id probaly restore it.

G'day 2ndowner,

Definitely appreciate any pictures of original setups :D .

I've got a heap of info on how the washers work, including photos of dissassembly, spare bits and repair sources, repro parts and a great writeup on how it all works (including the switch). PM your email address and I'll email it to you (will trade for photos  ).

TM50,
I've seen the "round jar pump under lid" versions, and believe it or not they are available repro from here:
Holden Vintage and Classic Ltd
Linton trading estate, Bromyard, Herefordshire, HR7 4QT.
Telephone: 01885 488488
Facsimile: 01885 488889
Email: sales@holden.co.uk
Internet: http://www.holden.co.uk
or from here:
Rogers Motors
PO Box 603 Shutesbury, MA 01072 USA.
Telephone +14132591722
Internet: https://jollyrogersmotors.com
Both companies also do the "round jar pump over lid" versions.
If I had a personal reccomendation, I say spend your cash at Rogers Motors - Geoff and Andrea Rogers' service was excellent :D 8) , and they responded to emails even when Geoff was in a serious medical condition  (Holden Vintage and Classic did not returned my emails :( ).
Both companies also do "round jar pump over lid" versions, but unfortunately no "square jar pump over lid" versions which are common on FB/EKs. I checked with Rogers Motors, and they cannot supply individual parts (eg just the vacuum assembly no jar).
I'm not sure that the round jar versions were offered by NASCO for Holdens though... if someone would photocopy some Accelerators for me, I might be able to find out :? .

Cheers,
Harv (apprentice windscreen washer guru and professional "please help me with info" whinger.).
