And here's a picture. None taken today, but this is the most recent.

A few more things to do before roadworthy but mechanically its almost complete, Just need to re-core the radiator, replace the water pump and replace the rubbers in the rear suspension.
Then its on to the fun stuff like re-wiring and replacing door rubbers.

Update
Well the project had me beat for a few weeks there.
But i got it back on track and I'm almost ready for the final shake down.
Still a few elusive little bits and bobs to chase down, but a few weeks holiday from work will hopefully get it and a couple of boring house chores done as well.
But not making any predictions, Last time i did that it turned pear shaped.
Here are some pic's after i drove it to the local shops for a highly illegal test run.
When i got it home though the trans was making a buzzing noise in all gears, neutral and park? Anyone got any ideas? I plan on having the hydra checked out prior to full rego as the shift is pretty harsh and when it drops into 2nd the engine almost stalls.

165/65R13 tyres. Great for cutting cheese at parties.
Got them for a good price so they will do until i can get a set of dragways.
SunnyTim:
Thanks for the Hydra contact. Its the first time i've noticed the buzz. But after car cooled down and i started 2 hrs later the buzz was gone.
But as you suggest a good service will do the trans a world of good and pin point any potential issues.
AustMod:
I also agree car could be a bit lower - 2" i was thinking. (Have a steep gutter in my driveway.) Am also thinking of spats for the car too, help with the look of the car. But that can wait until i get RWC.

Today was D - Day
Hi all,
Well today was the big day, passed its RWC 2nd time around no sweat
. (After i put spring washers on rear shock nuts, painted metal fuel line and numerous minor jobs.)
Stripped carby a 3rd time and re-checked float level and all mating surfaces, upon test seemed fine, no gushing of the liquid gold.
First run after replacing welsh plugs and first major run during Brisbane peak hour traffic was a bit of a test for the car and for me. I had forgotton what drums were like in the cut and thrust of city driving.
So all is good and car is going to be put into daily duties for a while.

Look out QLD FB/EK club here i come..

1 week in with my Ek as a daily driver and am bored with nothing to do in the shed. (Bugger painting the house.)
So......
Am thinking of a 186 red motor / trimatic / Hr disc front end conversion for the New Year.
I like the nostalgic look and feel of the Grey/Hydra combo but i feel the need for a little extra something. There is plenty of scope with the red motor family and the Hr front end opens doors for a range of future mods.
I have checked the "Rod's racks and suspension" website and am inspired by the range of products and services they offer, Plan on contacting them and getting some guidance for a slightly more powerful EK that is QLD complient, Possiably a future V8 conversion if i get the funds / time, so all red motor upgrades will need to be compatable with a future V8 install.
Plan on keeping the Grey / Hydra / OEM front end for a future reversal
(If i ever get the urge.)

Have read with great interest most posts and topics on the red / Hr disc conversion so am pretty keyed up to tackle this.
Thanks to everyone who shares their knoweledge, humor and personality on this forum, as for without you, guys like me would still be driving a generic automotive offering.
Photos will illistrate progress.
Regards;
Anthony.
