dans EK ute.

Post by 62ute »

hi all,
just obtained my first EK ute, and joined your fab site.
here are some pics of my ute.

it seems she was a bit of an 80s kustom at some stage.
HQ ute tail lights, had a cortina or xm falcon fine mesh grille.

Image[/img]

has funky velour inserts in the bench seat, and matching door trim.
appears to have had a hottie grey at some stage too.

has vic rego, so if shes got history, please share, would have been very funky in the time,
any period photos of her at a show or somewhere???? any history would be appreciated

Welcome Dan, looks like someone has put some effort into that ute in the past.
I hope somewhere in your plans you get rid of those terrible tail lights and go back to original or sedan/wagon ones  .
How is it for rust? Good luck, Trev 8) .

hi trev, thanks for the comments.

i love hq ute tail lights.... when there in a hq ute,

i think they look crap on this, im not sure if i can re-graft the originals back on, was thinkin ek sedan or wagon lights would look great as i got a sedan and a wagon as part of the ute deal, but even that looks like a lot of work.

rust wise there isnt too much for an oldie, and the previous owner had sent it to the blaster just to blast the rust sections, looks like a lot of blasting, but the whole lower half the ute was grey before the blasting and the primer,
it was two tone red and grey and a load of pinstriping tape.

will be picking everyones brains here in the near future for advice on gettin her on the road.

have 202, trimatic, floor shift, hr front and rear, hq stubs and brakes, EK auto hump. hk wheels, all ready for the conversion, just need an EH sump.

cheers dan

hey there smooth customs,

i have a problem (and the first stage is admitting it, right)

i feel the need to buy every old car i see, i justify it in many different ways, usually its 'ive always wanted one of those'

anyway i saw this chopped 4-door xp sitting in the local rod builders yard, i rember seeing it on the road like 7 years ago, it was awesome, so i HAD to rescue it from its rusty slumber, and started de-rusting it. now im waiting for a nice windsor and auto to go back in it, oh and i need to finish the other side, you see know i have the EK, the XP has been pushed back into the barn and covered up, it will come back out one day, when the EK is finished, or the XA or the VG or the charger, or the dodge.................

like i said its a problem, well i dont have a problem with it :D

The trim's as pretty as the rear lights

Swiped from a bus?

Bit of work there Dan but it appears thats not an issue for you. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

thanks for your comments guys,

i pulled the seat out tonight, the floor is 100% super solid and tarred up.

who ever did this beast up in the 80s did a great job at it.

my plans are simple:

hq discs on Hr front, 202, trimatic, Hr 3.36 diff. floor shift.
only as these are the parts i have here and now to do the swap.

although a hottie grey motor would be sweet to find
