Hello all, I am just starting to restore my FB holden. It used to be a Tasmanian police car and i will try to restore it to her former glory. I am installing a norman supercharger ( I have the book for it too ) and was wondering what sort of mods I will have to make to the bottom end. This is my first full restore of one of my old cars and will be learning everything from scratch. First thing learnt was I have to get a custom set of extractors as the manifold is getting in the way of the inlet. Look forward to any help.

Supercharging my grey FB
Welcome Andrew,
A good friend of mine races an appendix J car (Group Na) and runs a grey in a FJ.
Iv'e got to say he pushes the old gird hard and Im surprised how quick it does go. He does have engine failures no surprise there
mainly breaking the crank. The grey has only 4 main bearings and is prone to severe crank flex. I have built a couple of motors for him but they require a lot of maintenance.
To make them last we machine the main caps flat and install steel supports across the bolts (this saves the caps from cracking).
We polish the conrods and install good rod bolts. We fill the block with some grout to hold the bottom together and use a very large and custom harmonic balancer (a must for the flexing crank).
We also use forged pistons that are extremely hard to find.
Now all this stuff is super heavy duty for the grey under extreme loads so if you intend to abuse it then thats what you have to do to make it last.

Thanks for all the help, yes I am from Tassie, I have about 6 old holdens and go to the FE FC site quite often. As fo ar as I know I am the only one at the moment installing a Norman, so the info is greatly appricated. I wnot be driving this car hard, just want to go crusing in something diffrent and to be a bit of a head turner with the noise it will hopefully make. I will start posting pics as soon as I figure out how to do it.

Rob J (4hammers) probably owned the norman at some stage!!! Leon (FCCOOL) has built a real hot red, but im not sure what type of supercharger he has but Im pretty sure its not a norman. A Norman in an FB what a package!!!! Good luck, keep yr eye out for a repco head to go with it. Id love to find a norman to put on the ol FC

mate there is a guy in sydney that you might want to chase up also, Terry King (Dominator engine recoditioning in guildford) even old butch brown the fx fj guys would know the name (lives in sydney and is the son of mary brown) he has a collection of grey matter and would always know whats what with out fail.
