Depends on how many coats you want to give it. ?

I would have gone for 6, but 8 would give you plenty to play with.
Plus another 6 to 8 litres of primer / filler. If your doing the whole thing.

Yes, as above - depends on the amount of work/finish you want.....

I sprayed 16 coats ( 17 litres mixed) of acrylic just on the roof of my sedan - 4 coats, block back, 4 coats, block back, 4 coats, block back and a final 4 coats before I was "happy"....... this was after a similar amount of primer/surfacer over the remaining "sound" factory paint......

Some people wouldn't use half that to spray an entire vehicle.........

Depends entirely on your objective......

And depends on the gun you are using - I used a suction Iwata - turned the garage into white fog on each application....... gravity fed guns will use much, much less..........

All depends on the type of gun your using, and what size nozzle.
HVLP will use far less product than conventional guns.
And what paint your spraying (Acrylic,Enamel or 2k)

..plus the brand of paint also makes a difference...as I found Motospray acrylic is so thick that 4 litres becomes 6 once thinned enough to paint!
Geeze..we can turn a relatively simple question into 'War & Peace'!

Many a true word is said in jest Scotty, but that is what makes the forum so informative! :) Bring on the War & Peace tomes on FB/EKs I say! I was thinking of posting a list of what the forum has taught / given me in the four short months I have been a member...

I might have your post wrong, Scotty - sorry for my ignorance......

The paint I use (Regal, Aultracryl and Standox) are specified as mixed 1 part paint to 1 1/2 parts thinners.....

Hence, my above 17 litres of top coats for the roof - was just over 6 litres of paint.....

Hi John,
yes, you're probably correct - but at the end of the day, I got some of it on the roof....... that was the mission.....

frats,
Rosco

ps - the "6" litres of paint was actually a fair bit over 6..... got "frantic" at one point and tipped more thinners in to one of the mixes....had to add more paint to bring it back to 1:1 1/2 ratio...... good pointer - always either purchase a little bit more than planned ..... or use less of it and keep some as backup.........

There was little left of two cans of Standox Snowcrest white.... one 4 litre and one three.......

Of course in MY shed it makes 18 litres...1 litre of grit!

Scotty.

And Rosco...I was wrong on my paint mix...the Seaforth Green pearl I've made for the sedan will work out to almost 9 litres!! It's THICK!!..
