only thing i don't like with filling that line is the same as utes when people fill the line where the sills meet the 1/4 i always just get the impression it's bogged up

just one of those silly things roaming around in my head

Not to worry Mick..
I can always tell when they're bogged (they get cracked after a very short time  )..that said..MINE WONT!
It being a 'mild Custom' there will be a few lines removed..for 'smoothness' & the custom 'mustache mould' around the grill will be the welded to the guards & bonnet ..so the seam would look wrong if I left it.
Plus the 'mustache mould' will be the same colour as the body making it a 'more than Standard..Standard'. Colud never work out why Holden gave 'em a chrome grill and moulds when they removed the chrome from the headlight rims, tail lights & front windscreen strips?? :? Go figure?

I've drawn it a few times but it looks like normal (sort of), what i have in mind is the bonnet bar to be like an FB's (badgeless.."we donn need no stinking BADGES!" ) except with the sharp line like an EK's (no flat bit).
As for the ends they'll be same as an EK's but without the indicators (so they'll flow with the grill opening) then into the original (painted) bottom grill mould.

Only have a one day off this weekend..so I don't have a lot of time to spend on the EK..I was just about to re-assemble the driver's side guard when I thought to check the play on the accelerator linkage..good thing too as it had a heap of free movement!
I un-clipped it and it had the inevitable 1/2 warn out groove on both ends :x , note: no photo of this as I started before I realized I should have taken the photo..er..sorry..
Out with the welder and zap some new steel in it..
Image
them grind, file, wet'n'dry & metal polish it..
Image
a bit of paint & grease then back on the car..
Image
no more free play :D

Well trust me to open my big mouth..and say the driver's side was the worst   ..Finally got the guard off the passengers side (after spending ALL morning trying to undo the top inside guard bolt ..the bloody thing was over tight'nd so a conventional socket just slipped around the top..the fix was a cheap 1/4" drive 3/8"th socket with the end cut off! ).
Anyhoo ..after removing the guard I found the area was all bog!! Looks like someone was more into doing a quick fix for rego than actually fixing the problem and inserted a piece of sponge to shape bog around it :x !!!(see photo #1
Image
..and here is what was left when I removed the bog...
Image
Image
..but fear not..Scotty'll fix it today to & it'll be back to steel in no time..(and much safer too! :D

Amazing what a day can make..I've finished the outer and 1/2 finished the inner...it'll be nice to know I've got steel instead of sponge & bog!
