Surface Rust Treatment

Post by MBH222 »

Hi all,

Ive got some surface rust of the floor. What is the best method to treat this? Some sort of rust conveter and then a sealer?

Also, ive drenched the sills and yearly plug up the door drain holes and soak the doors, quarters, tailgate etc in fish oil. Is this the best rust treatment i can give the car?

Thanks,
Michael

might be messy but if you cup brush it with a grinder and get it all back clean you could acid it, you dont want acid soaking ander paint flakes and deadener or it might make more rust, it needs to be thouroughly nuetralised and cleaned of with water and dried imediately.
maybe a coat of rustgaurd enamel instead.
maybe you could soak out the fish oil with a solvent next time, take out the glass, scrub out the doors and paint inside the whole door with rustgaurd too, then put in a little cavity wax and make sure the drains are well clear. i guess each year after you could squirt a little fish oil in too.
