Front springs (kingpin)

Post by EKjimmy »

This is a bit of an odd one, but what are the dimensions of standard springs supposed to be? Whether they're sagged or not isn't much of an issue.
Just overall diameter, height, and thickness of spring.
Also standard height from centre of wheels to wheel arches-I noticed this was asked on another thread but I don't think it was answered?
Cheers, Jimmy

We had a good look at Jimmy's front end and I would say someone has oxy'd the springs to collapse a couple of coils !!!

So who knows their original specs????

Front spring with kingpin front end........ spring freelength ( ie:- not compressed )

Sedan/Wagon FB/EK 12 1/2 inches

Commercial models FB/EK 12 inches

Coil spring length at load

Sedan/Wagon AND Commercial models

FB/EK 7 1/2 inches at 1300 lbs

Coil windings are 9/16 ths inch thick

Coil diameter is 4 3/4 inch measured at coil head ( ie:- end of coil that fits up into the crossmember spring tower ).

Hope that answers your questions :D .
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Postage to Sydney using sellers postage calculator would be $14.

I'm pretty sure the size of the spring is the same from the FX up to the HG, just the thickness and length varies, Trev 8) .
