When time comes for panel and paintwork to start on my EK, i'll be filling a few holes for badges i don't want.
I don't like the idea of using fibreglass filler, unless it would be a better material to use than welding or soldering up the holes.
So, who know what the best methods are? I have access to an oxy set and an arc welder, but not a MIG.
The methods i know of are:
fibreglass/plastic filler (seems dodgy)
filling holes with weld/metal
lead filling
Also for a few trim holes like the ones for the scuff plates in the doors, I pretty much want to fill them all and re-drill ones that i know are in the best position.
After filling with either lead or another filler metal if I were to drill holes for screws immediately next to or overlapping the filled hole, would the filling fall out?
I hope that makes sense.
Cheers, Jimmy
Filling trim holes
I know you said you don't have a mig but that would be my choice of filing the holes, get a brass block behind the whole and start at the edge and work in to the middle slowly

Mig is best, see if you can hire one if you can't lend one.
Use a flat piece of non ferrous ( no steel content ) sheet or flat bar like brass or copper and hold it behind the hole before you weld up the hole.
It helps stop blowout of the hole and weld metal won't stick to non ferrous material.
Basically use very quick, low amp "tack" like weld method to stop blowout and heat distortion.

I can't think what to write here so this will do.
