Jay's EK

Post by J »

Im sure you all remember my EK, its hard to forget being lime green...
I have decided to start addressing some of the bigger issues to do with the car.

I have been without a horn for a while and needed a few other miscellaneous electrical jobs done so I got an electrician out on Thursday morning. I have to buy some new door light thingos, if I can find a new light switch that'l also be good, need a temp gauge (so im going to buy some pretty mooneyes ones), need a new horn and the big tension spring for the horn (where can i get one, rares doesnt do it).

That day I also decided to degrease the motor so its all looking pretty :)

On a cruise on Friday night I made it about 500m down the road and my accelerator bracket for the manual linkages snapped, I have been meaning to convert it to cable for a while so I just had to ride home on a tilt tray and it's off to the garage tomorrow (hopefully) to get a cable put on.

Today I foolishly decided to strip apart the interior, I had intentions of mounting my amp (for subdoofa) under my rear seat which I now know is not do-able and tidying up a few other things for Motorvation (16th and 17th Jan). I took out the seats, seatbelts and carpet to and found this bloody huge hole...

The main thing I am concerned with is that the seatbelt bracket is sitting right on that huge hole and It seems rather unsafe for passengers. There are a few other smaller holes in that same area, and over other parts as well. My other problem is I need someone who can patch it before Friday!

Another issue relating to the passengers side is the seat, it doesnt lock in. I am pretty sure it is to do with a spring, the other side locks fine but the little knob which is meant to go into the slot stops before it gets near it.

Here's a video....

I am hoping to get these issues sorted out before Friday, if the rust isnt a problem then the car may also be sitting a little lower with some different wheels on it for the show. Otherwise I hope to tidy up the boot a little, fix up the steering wheel and get some new seat covers!

We'll see.

Thats bad luck there mate.

But you should have enough time to get it done before you head off.

J,

That's too bad about the rust hole... I suspect that you might have to pull the car apart to see how much other rust is lurking about... good luck with it anyway...

By the way, if you are going to take the trim off that knackered seat, I will give you cash for those blue inserts on the back of the seat...

Andrew :)
