Haven't fitted one but saw how it was set up when pulling one out at the wreckers, if you have bucket seats I would go with the original set up from the Volvo, if you want the EK hand brake I would be using the rear cables from the Volvo and making a bracket to attach it to the front part of the original EK set up, Trev 8) .

If you had asked the question 2 days ago I could have took some pics of a mates EK with Volvo bum whilst it was up on the hoist  .

I'll ring him and see when he's coming up this way again.

In the meantime,

I'd probably go the same way Trev said regarding the cables or get Autocables to make up a new Volvo/EK handbrake conversion maybe??
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

This would be a good way to go. You would be able to run all the EK stuff then.

 I think Reddo recently had some cables made up by Autocables to convert EH or HR diff?? to FB/EK handbrake and was happy with it from memory??, so they will do conversion stuff.

Did mine too, EK to EJ diff. All he does is make the cable the standard length needed for EK but with whatever diff ends you have. Saves alot of re-engineering. Awesome mail order service too.

thanks Gents
My main problem is that the cables are indepent to each rear handbrake drum and that I would have to fabricate some sort of bracket doobawhackey where they meet the front handbrake lever setup
Pictures would be great FB Mad

Seriously give Autocables a call. It will save you some serious headaches and time. The way I see it the new cable would be made as one piece the same as a standard EK one only with Volvo ends. Cost for mine from memory was around $70-$80 at my door (the next day!).

Yep, thats the way I'd be doing it as well, would save a lot of stuffing around and you can also use all the original FB/EK handbrake cable and actuating mechanism.
