What makes a great show?
I've been to a few and am finding they're very different.
I HATE lining up with the car overheating, maybe pay when you park OR leaving?
I looove the 50s-60s live bands on the back of the truck, eg PALMER.
I like the cruise with kids onboard, eg BARMERA.
I,d also like a "roving" personality interviewing people about their cars, theres many stories behind some vehicles.
And finally a elevated rotating turntable so you can get good pics.
I would like Poll Dancing and Mud Wrestling but thats another show.
Any ideas?

Luv the Hotrod Nationals
Luv Hotrod shows which take over small towns
also shows which accomodate for kids/family
a granstand to get a good scope of a show,a cruizin track is good too
luv a good 2/3 day event, with camping etc
a show without rice burners
luv a band with a big upright double bass-twang!
A show that incorperates drags into the mix ie monaro Nats
my 3 favorites from the last year or so:Big River Hotrod Nationals,
Monaro Nationals,GM Day
I think a great show has us eagerly awaiting the next years event

INVEST IN PRECIOUS METAL
I think you guys need to get over to vic and go to one of Johns events. The KOA have all that and more. Live bands (50's -60's surf style), model displays , flame thrower comps, mini rods, lowrider bikes, all makes of cars etc etc... Great family events, cruising. The Kustom nats at Phillip Island has the best cruise track ever, Flat as but then it is a race track.
Whats even better is early Holdens are welcomed as equal participants....

i love cruisin'
burnouts are good in a controlled enviroment
drag racing
grass events
no jap shit
about a pre 75 cut off (this to me is even a little to late model
)
a parklike grounds with shady trees
2/3 day event with camping
good security or no knuckle heads
only problem with hotrodders is most want to be tucked away in bed by 7.30-8.00 o'clock love the cars but the people are mostly sooooo boring

Mind you we've slowed down a little since having kids. But as is the case with most of John's events theres always bands till late on the Saturday Night either at the pub or bowling alley as was the case this year at the Kustom Nats..

How about engine blow ups?
Many years ago the local lads use to settle there "mines more powerful than yours" pub talk by borrowing the truck chains and doin the tug o war.
Saw many guys lose money when Daryls Barge Fairlane beat Brontes 55 Chev.
Always enjoy seeing Camiras and Sigmas being trashed.
On the weekend they had rocker cover racing, different!
Most shows go for about 8 hours and ya gotta keep people amused.
