Does it take much slop out of the gear shift itself as opposed to the column
Gday Marty
The column shift is sloppy because it worn out in all the linkages, which can be repaired.
With the floor shift any slop is taken out by how tight the bolts are tensioned.
This will take trial n' error to get it between sloppy, & stickey.
The first stick I made, was just a piece of 5/8 rod, that I used to
test different shapes & lenghts to make sure it cleared the seat & dash.
Once your happy with that, use it as a templete to make your good one.
One thing I found with mine, was the best shape turned out to be
dead straight. I found any swan neck design wanted to twist as you go
from 1st to 2nd across the 'H' pattern, making it stiff.
The straight stick works a treat, but it is close to your left leg.
Im glad to be of help to you,
because I appreciated the help
I've recieved from others.
Cheers Jeff
