Thanks again Rosco.

I think I have it now :? :? :?
It isn't a bonnet release catch, like on most cars.
Pull it out the the bonnet pops out. NO .....

It's a locking pin. :?

Pull it out to be able to open it.
And push it back in after you have closed the bonnet. :?

If you push it in before closing, it will stuff it up ?????
Remembering to push it back in would be difficult.
Don't remember this at all ?????

Hi again - yes, correct - it's a locking pawl - prevents the release lever from allowing the catches to withdraw.

I would seriously suggest you don't push the hood lock button in and then close the bonnet - I don't believe I have ever done this - so cannot tell you if the bonnet will close..... or any of the mechanism will be damaged or "locked up".......

This locking arrangement is not "spring loaded" it will stay in what ever position it was left......

Logic suggests to me that if you have to open the bonnet - you pull out the lever and it allows you to open and lift it....... it would stay open until you closed the bonnet again then pushed in the hood lock......

My concern for you is getting that inner wire and pawl to "un-freeze".. you can get RP-7, Wd-40 etc into it through the spiralled outer cover by bending it against its "wrap"..... if you can't get it to move - let me know and I'll explain how I "un crimped and de-soldered" the pawl from the lock assembly end...... it's a sure bet you'll be able to withdraw the entire length of inner wire when this is done - it is a very loose fit in the outer cover - it's the pawl which usually freezes...... as you can see, it's up there where all the weather from the front baffle gets blown over (at least what is in excess from what goes through the radiator.......)

I'm happy to learn that my efforts were not in vain, Finny....... good work.

frats,
Rosco
