What is there a particular brand of 2in extractors that will fit a 161 red motor in an EK?

Anybody have any for sale? or should I just get some made up?

Pacemaker, is one brand.

Just be careful you don't put on extractors and exhaust that is too big for the engine, you need what is called "back pressure".
For example, I had a 2.25" exhaust fitted to a standard 173 and drove it like that for about 3 years and it went fine, then I changed the twin carbs for a single carb and 1.7/8 inch exhaust and the power increase was unbelievable

probably why the grey motor was weak ahaha
2inch pipe sound ok for a 161? thinkin of goin twin or tripples

161 would suit a single 1"3/32 stromy with standard exhaust manifold and a 2" exhaust would work fine, a good power increase over the standard grey, Trev

i'm not sure but it could be a bit big. i've been advised by a mate (muffler fitter for over 30 years) that i shouldn't go any bigger than 2 1/2 on a hot 186 so i'd say a 2" on a 161 would be the biggest you'd want to go.

cheers guys,
I already have the 2inch pipe cos thats what was hooked up on the grey so i will keep it as that.

My other question - will a grey motor strommie fit on the 161?

dunno, but if a 186 strommie will fit i've got two carbs and manifolds here if you need one.

Pretty sure the base is smaller on the grey carb, check the size on the side, a grey carb is 1"1/32 and a 186 carb is 1"5/32, so the grey carb might be a bit restrictive, Trev

Yep Trevs right, the base on the grey carby is smaller and the mount holes are closer together than on a red motor.

Also the base should have cast into it "BXUV-1" for a grey and "BXUV-2" for a red in most circumstances from memory.

Red carbys will be either 1 3/32 (138 red and 149 red ), 1 5/32 ,1 7/32 cast into the carby body.

Hi J do not buy advance extractors (they sell them in sa) they are no good they go down to close to gearbox and you cant get to the bolts
i had to buy another set. not happy

the maker said we have sold thousands of them and nobody has complained

i dont no if they sell them in other states but try be for you buy.
