Performance upgrades for red 202
lol yeah that right, plus you don't need power to have fun in a EK.
While i am at the wreckers tommorrow i will have a look and see if they have a EH sump and pick up and also a electric dizzy from a VK commodore. Oh i nearly forgot a alt from a VK aswell.

Your are a strange strange fellow. How the hell can you wreck any car classic or not short of a solar powered one with a v8?SPL camry wrote:yeah that is true but im not after a drifter any more, Plus i don't want to wreck a great classic car with a V8. So i will just stick to the 202 i have now.

man i'm argreeing with andrew on this one, you are a strange fellow!
firstly, i wouldn't be worried about hotting up the 202 at this stage if you dont have the dollars, better money spent on setting the car up and reapiring it, paying engineering certs, seatbelts etc... then once thats all done doing the engine, that way any new parts such as those holleys you can take advantage of those warranties..., plus a hot motor in a not running car has a power output of 0, if you want to go the t04 route in the future save your money on the engine now, as you wont use the same engine for a turbo setup, believe me i know i'm doing the T04b route with a 2" SU! once again research will pay off!
cheers

Well then i will stick to simple to get the engine complete, leaving the carby till last. I will focus my time on and money on getting the EK ready to have the engine in. For seat belts since i am chaging the engine will i need to put seat belts in the back?
So i will just save up all the money i can till im 21 and then look at turbochargin the engine, By saving up i therfore will have the money to do all the internals and buy proper stuff not cheap stuff.

The only reason for time is so everything dosen't happen at once.

come on blue ute - i'm only 23 and turboing mine ... though it probably wont be ready til i'm 41 at my rate
helps to do the research and a lot of work myself, and ge tthe odd lucky buy! i started talking to old engine builders there was one out in Midland (i think) that has turbo'ed and chargerd alot of red 6's, and he's been very good and will be doing my head and organising cam and lifters for me, things like if you go the 186, you can use 202 pistons to lower the compression enough to not use decomp plate (however this is on lower psi - which is all i'm running) so it's possible to do it a resonible cost (i'm talking low thousands $$$$) plus i'm using a strata kit from the UC torana... much better that custom manifolds and EFI setups!
The best advice anyone can give you SPL right now...is stop what you are doing, work out what you want, work out time frame (triple it) work out budget (double that, and then double it again), recheck you can afford to do it again... but the most important is....
for the 202 mod's speak to an engineer, you will get a list of certified ones from your local RTA, or street machine webiste, all the mods you are planning may have been done to death but still have to meet reg's and signed off cert's by an eng! an engineer will be able to tell you what is an inst required, you will find you will needs seatbelts (and you will only get a seating capacity rating of how many seatbelts you have, you don't put them in the back, then no one can ride in the back legally or safely thesedays), you'll need power brakes, ball joint front end (HR), myybe a collapsible steering column (off memory some state requires that for a 202) 2 speed wipers, changine the engine mounts, changing the gearbox crossmember... that's all i can think off the top of my head at the moment,
Cheers

its either got to be a blue motor dizzy, ie. wb ute, vc commodore ... or efi vk .... the carby vk has a totally different setup which you just don't want to go there!SPL camry wrote:While i am at the wreckers tommorrow i will have a look and see if they have a EH sump and pick up and also a electric dizzy from a VK commodore. Well when i went to the wreckers yesterday they have got a Electronic dizz off a VB commodre and it cost $85 i think maybe less. I also asked for a HR front end and EH sump and pick up, he said they havent had one in 3 years. But when i get closer to getting the engine ready i will get the electric dizzy, if they still have it as it was there last one there.
When i get the dizzy is it simple to install ? what would i need to do so i do it properly ?
