car damaged while i had it at the mechanics

Post by slimboy66 »

just wondering if anyone has had there car damaged at the mechanics or anywhere else while it was having work done . its a small dent on the passenger side front guard mid headlight height so its not an easy fix. how much could i reasonably expect it to be fixed . i mean if u paint 1 guard i dont see them being able to match the rest of the car as well.

They SHOULD have insurance to cover incidents like that. Especially if they own up to it....

I work in a work shop at a prestige brand dealer, we check over each car with the owner before they leave the car with us and fill out a sheet infront of the owner to reduce the situation of who dunnit.
we use fender covers to prevent damage but from time to time a car gets damaged, usualy a tool bumps the side of the car or a door is opened onto a trolley or part of a hoist.
fortunatelly often our paintless dent guy can fix it back to perfect.
any chips are touched up with a blob of touch up paint big enough to fill the chip wich is then sanded flat with a red 3m denibbing block and buffed.

the touch up pen wont fix this . the young guy started in gear ( thought it was in neutral, hasnt driven a 3 speed i'd say)and it launched into the tyre rack and against a 50mm pipe and pushed the guard around the headlight in about an inch

Provided its only the gaurd that is bent, that should be all they'll repair. And they may even only blend in enough to make it look like before.
