i would advise against re-splining the axles ... in my experience they just arn't ever the same .... and for the power your likely to have billet axles would be a safe investment!
as for centres ... well time will tell hey
there is alot of aftermarket stuff out there for the BW 78 series diffs though so you should be able to get something that works.
i am building a BW for a drag car and i've used a 31 spline spool in it and from what numbers i can find on the web, they can handle about 4000lb of torque .... so the first thing that comes to mind for me is the single 28 spline going into the front of the diff!
mind you this torque figure is a calculation of max torque x gear ratio of most torque and all that sorta stuff.
anyways good luck with the diff, im sure you'll get something that works without a &*#@ badge on it
oh and i love the work your doing, and those fatties on the rear just look mint!

v8ek for us
Sammy the diff in my yellow machine has 1 resplined axle. (LSD 3.50 9 inch) Don't really know how strong it is as I have'nt run it down the 1/4 mile. But, when I get the chance I flog the crap out of it to see how it goes, and I'm impressed.
Tried lots of standing starts with everything the motor can dish up and it still gets me home. But then again its only a super 6.
Greg, I remember you telling me to slow down, that was about 12 months ago, maybe you should speed up.
I hoping your ek will be finished for the NATS. So we can all get together, drink, talk crap and enjoy ourselves.

It is not "only a super 6" it is one of the most impressive cars I've ever seen and the driving force behind my build. As far as the "get together, drink, talk crap and enjoy ourselves" goes, you have a deal!! I'll pull my finger out!!!!!Malcolm wrote:But then again its only a super 6.![]()

Re: v8ek for us
it took me 14,000kms in the torana with 140hp at the wheels before the axle snapped, so that would be a fair bit less power than yours, also i don't think the stage 2 shift kit helps, its pretty harsh into gears then you get up itMalcolm wrote:Sammy the diff in my yellow machine has 1 resplined axle. Hi guys,
Back on the console road. Got side tracked on the way and removed the steering column and firewall recess from the VN, had to reshape the recess to match the EK firewall, fits pretty well...... The steering wheel (oldy layin' around the shed) was to hang onto while I made noises, changed gears and blew bubbles:lol:
, the real steering wheel is Billet alloy.
Had to mount the Ratchet shifter first then back into profiling the console
.

Cut out fire wall plate for reshaped commodore recess.

Reshaped recess from VN.

Welded in, still grinding, sanding to do, will remove the plate to do this.

VN rubber boot fitted to recess.

Mount for ratchet shifter .... should last a while

Cover on, only part of the cover that will be visible after the console is complete will be the chrome section.

starting on console now..... Hey Devilrod, a cut out for the column appeared
