Had some mates come over today while I had the rear wheel off for inspection. One of them says hey what does that screw do?
Turns out some nub had put in a random screw pointy end into the wheel well and was causing the scraping on corners as it came into contact with the tyre. Ground it off and voilla not a hint of scraping. Tyre has large grooves carved into it from the screw now

yes - there is a self tapper fitted to hold the wheel-arch cover in place - but this is fitted towards the front of the arch and is hidden by the base of the rear seat.... it is one trap for young players which catches them out - until they slice open a finger or two before replacing it with a bolt/nut or grinding away the pointed end.......
If this is the screw which you found - by golly, you must have wide wheels for the tyre to come within proximity of that.... or it has been replaced with a very long one.......
The FB has had the temp light coming on during any extended driving on 35 degree plus days, so I bought a new radiator for it from ebay.
It is a standard old holden one, don't know what it is out of however has a &*#@ stamped core in it. It took me 1:30 to put it in, so I will wait and see how it goes. It physically looks very good, with no bent fins, causing me a great deal of distress when I came to attach my thermo (only) fan.
Besides that minor update, I have nothing to report. Not sure what I will address next. I will most probably install my repro headlining that I have had sitting around for what seems like decades.

So I was driving to a new years eve party the other night. Temp light came on, no dramas me thinks, happens all the time. Soon I hear a ticking noise coming from the engine It had split the bottom hose again and got really hot! I think the engine might be stuffed now. Towed the car home. It seems to idle fine now, but I haven't taken it for a good drive yet. I immediately took in my ebay rad for a professional flush etc so I hopefully can fix the overheating problem. Soooo, anyone in Perth got a decent red motor for sale? Wouldn't mind a bit of a cam/ holley on one either

Andrew, red motor are pretty tough, it may be ok still.
Further to your over heating, I had allot of trouble about 18 months ago, tried easy and cheep fixes but nothing worked, so I bought a new radiator, upper and lower hoses, thermostat and flushed out the motor and haven't had a problem since. Even 08 new years day cruise in 40 degree temps lining up to get in.
