Reddos Green EK wagon

Post by reddo »

Hi dudes.
Most of you know i bought a standard wagon the other week. I pulled up at a mates place. He builds rods for a living.
He saw the car and said "There was a bloke here 10 mins ago wanting to sell one of those"

So... me being the ever optomistic got the blokes details and rang him.
I ended up over there on sunday morning and check the car out....... and before i left i had stuffed a $200 deposit in the owners pocket and told him i would be back with some more dosh.

Son and i went back yesterday to collect the car. Here a few "shed shots" from home.

is pretty much stock except for 6" wide steel rims and a few under dash gauges.

8) 8) 8) 8) 8) .

While i was talking to him and shelling out the balance of payment he mentioned "spares"......... ... always good when ya get a few "sweeteners" with the deal......BUT.. i wasnt expecting this..

We filled the back of the Chev with a complete HR disc brake front end, a complete HR rear end, a brand new VH44 booster, a HR steering column, EK rear bar , Towbar and a few spare standard rims.

We loaded the back of the wagon with .. a spare top tailgate, chrome bonnet front mould, a pair of side mount dust deflectors, 2 brand new brake drums still in the box, a red motor carb and manifold, chrome 138 side plate, variuos lenses, a spare windscreen.

I have a sweet 186 and a cast iron celica 5 speed with all the mount up gear stashed away at home. Now that i have the disc brake front, new booster and HR rear ..... Ya never know what might end up under , or in the car !!!

Car drove home OK, need the brakes sorting out a bit... steer left before applying brakes and heading right... i suspect the offset 6" rims might have a little bit to do with that  .
Bugger all rust .. what was there has been done reasonably well. tidy green interior. paint is thin in a few places but i can live with that.
The race is on now to have it sorted ready for a week long vintage caravan tour from Nambucca to Coledale near woolongong starting 11th October. We will be at Coledale from Thursday 16th to sunday 19th if any of you locals wanna drop by for a chat..Not gunna rush any of the jobs . if it isnt ready by then i will take the Chev.

Keep ya eyes open for the wagon or the chev towing this....

Number plate holes were originally on the bottom edge and were transfered to the top edge in the early 80s :?

:? :? :? :? :?
Number plate mounting.

......
Yup... it cheeses me off too. Moving them is about number 36 on the "To do " list.

The pale green on the van is called "Eau -De- Nil".. Remember grannys old wash basin and bath???... Well that is the name of the colour.

Tomorrow night is normally "Beers with the mates night" at the local. But ....... i am gunna go cold turkey and stay home ( I have a beer fridge in the shed she has forgotten about) . grease the front end and see if i can chase the "King Pin Canarys" out . if the nipples ( on the car) all behave em selves i should still be able to get a draughty later in the evening. Might get time to whack a towbar on it as well. .... ... then there is the rear end keeper spring to stop its bum dragging with a van on the back... and then......... Oh bugger this i am off to the pub.
getting thirsty just thinkin about all the work.
