lsd diff centre

Post by ek62wa »

hi all, does anyone know if i can swap the gearset from a 3.55 ratio diff onto a 2.78 lsd centre. I have had both together on the shed floor an they both look the same, or what is the best way to get an lsd into the old banjo diff?

Yep,they will change over but if you aren't sure how to do it yourself then get a diff specialist to do it as the teeth have to be set right between pinion gear and crown wheel and bearing preloads has to be set right.Fit new bearings as well.Get them to check the LSD centre while they are there.Might cost a bit but you will basically have a recoed diff with the advantage of the gearset you want.

To my knowledge V8 salisbury gears won't interchange with 6 cyl banjo's.I know 6 cyl banjo gears will fit into small UC Torana salisbury as I have done it so its also possible that the banjo gears may also fit small 6 cyl early Commondoors diffs as well ie: VB,VC,VH etc.

Hope this helps,

Terry.

i can tell you that the UC salis/vb/vc/vk salis gears from an LSD will fit into the banjo LSD centre as i did it to make one good one from 2 dodgy ones.
