Well I have the FB now, it is supposed to be 'hi gloss' black all over so the white roof has been added later. Anyway here's a few shots when I picked it up, it was great to finally see it!!

The shed it was in (white ant infested posts!!)

The interior, seats are a bit sad!

rear seat is sun damaged at the top, has had a seat cover

engine goes but a broken front mount made it wobble pretty bad!

Hey good one Peter,

Finally home and ready for action. What happened to the console?
Black hey! What a ripper and it must be an early one at that. Most likely January or February 1960.

Look forward to seeing you progress with it. Keep the images coming.

Regards, Smooth 8)

Yeah the shed was a worry, glad we didn't have a good blow!! Yes it's an early FB, apparently prior to July 1960 as Hi Gloss black (an FC colour) was still used until then, after that time the 'magic mirror' Cardsbold Black was used. Yes there are quite a few new bits on the car, we have a bit of rust work to do, ie sills, front floor pans and the crossmember that runs under the front floor and over the tranny tunnel. Also the usual outriggers on the subframe but all in all nothing that can't be overcome (I hope!).

Cheers

Looks like a good solid beginning. But as we all know once you start dismantling you find all sorts of surprises, I know I did....

Good Luck.

Always a good feeling and relief when you get them home.Agree with Devilrod, there will be surprises once you start dismantling to rebuild....some good surprises...some not so good.
Don't let the not so good ones deter you however. You will be surprised at what you can do yourself once you have a go.
Its like learning to weld.Only so much can be learned on the blackboard and the rest is practise, practise, practise.
Keep us up to date on your rebuild and good luck,

Terry.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Unfortunately a redundancy from work and other committments have seen the need to sell the FB on, it's on Ebay at the moment and ending today. It will be sad to see it go after finally tracking a complete original car down, but reality bites!! Anyway hopefully in a few years time, maybe for the cars 50th birthday I'll get one again!!

Bye for now

Peter
