I think Malcolm has 17's on his 57ekfb, they look pretty good.
I recon it would depend on the size of the tyres, have to be low profile, Trev 8) .

yeah i was thinking i'd have to go really low profile, it'd rattle my teeth out to drive but i'm used to that with driving a 84 4runner with a big lift kit and big mud terrain tyres. bonus with the ek is the seats are nice and springy so that might take the edge off the harsh bumps.

18s on an ek

Post by Malcolm »

Luke,
I have 17s on mine. Front are 17 x 7 and back are 17 x 8.
Front tyres are 205/40/17 front and 235/40/17 on back.
Wheels are &*#@ stud pattern. HR front end with lowered King springs, Leyland P76 disc's and HZ Holden calipers. Rear is shortened &*#@ 9 inch with Commodore disc's redrilled to suit &*#@ stud pattern.
Neither front or rear rub anywhere, but I did spend a fair bit of time measuring back spaces ect. to ensure they wouldn't.
Hope this helps.

malcolm, thanks heaps for that. your wheels look hot!
being able to see how 17's look on your car helps heaps with the visual ideas too.
i'm in the process of working out the backspacings at the moment, then finding what i can track down as far as designs go at an affordable level.
i'm mainly looking at volvo 850 fitments at the moment.
can anyone verify that these will fit standard ek pattern?

volvo are the same bolt patern, you can order centreline wheels in early holden bolt pattern and a company called showheels have a 17" and 18" 5 spoke wheel you can get in early holden, but only come in one back spaceing
