I was adjusting down noisy tappets? on my EK and on starting the motor for just one more time when the bonnet slammed down?
I wonder has anyone else had this frightening experience, I bent the brackets to stretch the springs a bit, but then I fitted on the heavy
Bonnet Bird I bought to put on it so it might do this again, Can you get new springs?

The same thing has happened to me on a few occasions lately. The problem comes when the bonnet adjustment bolts get bent and catch on the grill support brace making it impossible to open the bonnet without lots of swearing and brute force applied. I havent yet worked out a good way to put more tension in the springs without replacing them.

Gordon,
The FB did not have a bonnet pull. BUT! as an NASCO option you could get a bonnet lock that looks a lot like a bonnet pull. When depressed it throws a pin to prevent the bonnet from being opened. To unlock the bonnet you must pull the cable lock to release the locking pin (not the bonnet) and then move around to the front and open the bonnet as per usual.
This was introduced by Holden after many complaints of batteries and carbies going south in RSL car parks etc.
