I'm looking for a master cylinder/brake booster setup that can be fitted
with the minimum amount of modifications.
It will be fitted to the van which will be an automatic,
so there is no clutch cylinder to clear.
The van runs HR disc front & matching HR drums on the rear.
I dont want to modify the bonnet hinge,
and I'd like to retain the original pedal setup.
I've seen a HQ master cylinder with remote booster setup,
but I would prefer one compact simple setup mounted to the firewall.
I've heard of using a Gemini booster with a &*#@ master cylinder,
has anyone done that?
Is a proportional valve still necassary with the right master cylinder/ booster?
Pics of someones setup would be a bonus.

Compact Master Cylinder/Brake Booster Setup...What to use?
I used a Gemini booster with a Commode m/cylinder. i initially tried an XB one but the brake pipes exit on the right and they fouled on the hinge.
Everyone told me that you need to move the brake pedal to the left to fit a booster on the firewall and leave the hinge untouched - I thought that was too much buggerising about so I left the pedal in the stock location and chopped the hinge up to suit- it was a piece of piss.
Put a gas strut in the middle of the bonnet and it was done, I will dig up the thread in MyFB/EK and bump it up..

compact booster and master cylinder

We use a Gemini booster and &*#@ master cylinder on our Panel Van which does not take up too much room. The only thing that you need to do is make up a pivot assembly to allow for the offset to clear the hinge. If you need photos we can take some tomorrow and pm you.

You could try a Escort booster mount + booster, then it will mount beyond the hinge.
Or alternatively you can can give Australian Auto Access a call....039845 0800, they do a Dual 7" Booster to fit most PBR Mater Cylinders. I can't tell you if it will fit or not cause I run Commodore hinges on mine. So the spacing clearance between hinge and firewall mount, is out of my league.
If you wanted to go a super cool clean firewall look, have a look at the Van style booster set ups..... Eg: Hiace a or Mazda B series. You could fabricate the linkage so it runs along the underside of the dash.

Hey Thommo Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong but im sure you will need the booster with the HR disks or they will be that heavey you would loose any benefit of disks
the drum rears should be self energizing therefore not needing boosting a remote VH40 hidden under the front gard on the front circuit would be the very tidy but alternitivly im sure ive read somthing about a Datsun (180B?) master cylinder and booster being straight forward in fitting
