'61 Ute

Well,

I'm new to the forum and thought I'd show you all my current project. I purchased it a while back for what I cosider a reasonable sum of $$$..

It currently sports a red 186, CRS chassis kit, HR disc brake front and HQ tunnel.

Plans include a new noisy bit in the front (yet to be determined), a 9",
4-link, fresh paint and new interior.

I was pretty happy to find a reasonably straight example with minimal cancer and good hanging panels... Tailgate is intact and complete (although a new skin is in order), which is definitely a bonus.

I'll be sure to keep updates posted.

vk efi computer and wiring loom on the floor of the passenger side ... is that something that came with the car or something your planning ??

the VK EFI is definitely an option I'm investigating. I managed to get hold of a brand new Yella Terra 12 port "turbo" head, with big-ish 70cc chambers. It's already set up with big valves and double springs, so at 70cc on a 202 it should give me 8.1:1 with flat top pistons, zero deck height and 20thou oversize or 7.6:1 with acl hq race series pistons with the chamber shaped shallow dish (which is 6-7cc from memory). Set up correctly there should be loads of potential with the correct induction assistance.............

You have quite some plans for your new toy - thanks for sharing it with us.

"spose someone had to mention it" ...... do you need an EK front bumper and and over-riders? - I think we have someone who may consider an exchange - vaguely remember an FB with an EK bar.......

body looks in very good shape.............. if you cruise trhough a lot of starting points on this forum - you'll see just what a good looking start you've won - please keep this thread going.......

great to have you aboard....... pretty confident you'll get a lot more out of your ride by joining in.................... don't be hesitant to ask for any advice....

2.2cc's was the size of the bowl in my HQ race series pistons, unless they make a lower compression one aswell.

i reckon the 8.1 compression sounds pretty close, don't wanna go too low ... and the vk manifold will be a good way to get the air in there from a turbo, but she's gonna be a tight squeeze fittin that lot in the bay!

I'm looking forward to being part of the forum.....

Just for interest, I noticed a few comments on my username "stock"....
The name reflects far more on my other car than the EK, and while it is completely unrelated to this forum (apart from the fact we're all car lovers), I'll post a couple of pics of for interest...... I'm sure many of the forum members' dad, grandad or other relative had one.

Stock as a rock (except for the lowering bit!! Love torsion bar suspension for that!). 40k original miles..... I've still got the factory crossply's it came from the factory with!! Fun cruiser which get's heaps of comments....
Since the pics I've managed to aquire black and white plates "STOCK" too..... I think it's a nice touch.




I promise it's the last time it appears in this forum!!
