Matty,
this bracket supports the accelerator rod.
If its not being used you must have a cable setup...

Matty, It's just the factory accelerator linkage bracket. If its not in use just discard it.

thats for the excelerater arm linkage
it goes in there then runs behind the back
of the engine( rocker cover) to another bracket
the same just below the brake slave cylinder

Matty, If your goin to run the original excelartor linkages then yes it has to stay. If you're goin to run cable excelarator then it goes. With X2 carbies, I would be using the original and then that depends on what linkages I use on the carbies themselves. I'm sure this has confused you, because it confuses me. Here's a pic

Sorry Matty,
I don't know how to put those nice circles on the pic's to show the detail of what I mean.
Obviously, This is a grey motor, but the linkage is the same for a red, if you don't use a cable throttle.
Most carbie applications would be able to use similar linkages to the set-up I use.
