Bit of a way lay leaving Texas. Richard and Arty went on ahead to avoid the skippys, but Rog and us departed on dusk after some cross thread remediation. In buying a thread file first chance. Fortunately Roger had had a spare hard line made in Forbes after using one at West Wyalong.

The roos were knee deep for the next 80km. Annmarie, Arty and Roger all made contact.

Finally arrived and settled in. Went out for dinner and bumped into Blacky and Shanni with Lindsay and Janessa having dinner with Annmarie and Roger at Stanny brewhouse.

Friday morning in Stanthorpe it is about 6C. Car don’t idle too well cold at this ambient and stalled twice on the way for morning coffee. Noticed the speedo isn’t working though the odometer is so likely an internal failure rather than cable like a year ago.

Car needs a big wash before the event however there is no facility in town. Looks like bucket and chamois the hod old fashioned way.

Yesterday arvo exiting the servo at Texas I turned a bit sharp out of the driveway and must have ridden the passenger side rear wheel over some kerbing. There was a bang at the time but nothing subsequent so I didn’t stop at the time. Nothing obvious at this stage but possibly exhaust.

"CSIRO radio telescope array is a sight more interesting than Parkes imho"

- except that the visitors' centre at Narrabri is unstaffed. And you got there during the every-two-years radio astronomy school too.

You didn't perchance use the little steerable parabolic dish to troubleshoot your ignition system?

And from all appearances there's some serious maintenance, or upgrade work going on. I might have to ask around to find out what it is.
