Anyway, left Mundrabilla this morning next stop Border Village. They know how to charge the theiving pricks, fuel at Eucla 10 minutes away was $2.50 a litre, Border Village it’s $2.75. Image

Luckily only needed 9 litres so fuel up and off into SA - next stop Nullarbor roadhouse- traditionally the most expensive stop on the Eyre highway and they didn’t disappoint- $2.85 a litre and 90km further along at Yalata it was $2.08 !!!!

We had plenty of distance to travel today so that was about the only decent time out of the car - did 890 km today.

Gearbox hasn’t repaired itself since last year, or the year before that Image so the occy strap came into play

Hmmm….. wouldn’t think the two issues are related? Wonder if the timing needs checking?

It stalled at some roadworks on Monday and struggled to turn over so I pulled a couple of degrees out of it but I don’t have a timing light with me to check it properly

I love those 8/71 Detroit's, I worked on a lot of them back in my younger days on Navy Torpedo recovery vessels also 6/71's
If the engines oversped the superchargers had air flaps that you were supposed to drop to starve the engine of air and it would shutdown only problem was they would suck the oil seals in and just keep running on the oil, they were just about indestructible

Must be one of the few GM Rootes blowers not removed from the wild, polished within an inch of its life and mounted on a "corvette small block".

Yeah it would be a great engine to stick in a hotrodded truck ImageImage they have a sound all their own those old girls.
The sump is rusted out and it’s sitting under a water leak so I don’t hold much hope for it being rebuildable Image

Left Wilmington for Orroroo and had lunch at one of the pubs and found out the new publican lived in Kalgoorlie for the last 18 years, he leased the pub about 6 months ago
