I was advised to paint the inside of my Sampsons, with something impervious, such as epoxy etch or enamel. Apparently the older rims tend to get porous and leak air.

The earliest picture I have of the car, taken early 1963, just a couple months after purchase. My Dad always looked after his tools (being a Carpenter), house, cars and family. The condition of the car he passed onto me in 1983 was very good and that was a reflection of his care & attention he gave the car.
