Heat shielding

Post by indiana1968 »

Just want some advice on how to make the interior of my FB a little cooler, especially in summer. The front passenger floor does get warm from the muffler underneath. Is it possible to put heat shielding between the muffler and floor (underneath the car) I have had a new floor pan put in, and some soundproofing too, but just hoping to be a little cooler over summer.

And yes, I have a little plug in fan under the dash!

Many thanks

Stock position for the muffler is under the front seat, passenger side, which allows a reasonable air gap to the floor. You could certainly fix some aluminium sheet, with an air gap, which will provide additional surface area for heat dissipation, particularly while moving, as well as reflecting some radiant heat. The cars do get hot in summer, no doubt about that.

If you have a look through Gazzas build thread - V8EKFORUS or whatever its called - there is some pretty good pics of how he put heat shields under his floor.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess we do have to suffer a little bit. Freds pizza long gone now, became gourmet pizza, now something called Jams, Not too sure what its like.

I used Aluminium embossed heat shield on my firewall, bend the corners to make a mounting point.
