That’s a wrap !!!

Post by Blacky »

Saw a post on the FE- FC Forum about a leather steering wheel cover that you sew over your wheel - after driving back from Temora thought it would be worth a try Image
Measured the wheel up and sent the details off to the mob in England who make them along with about $80 and a few weeks later it turned up in the post.
I figured the wheel could do with a bit of fattening up so I allowed a bit extra and stuck a sheet of 3mm foam under it first - I used this stuff after talking to my trimmer mate

It’s adhesive backed so I cut it to size then slid the cover over it

Tied it on and voila !!!! Electricians toolkit, call it done Image ImageImage

Then I found this needle and thread in the kit - figured I better use that instead of the cable ties ………

After a few YouTube tutorials I got to it …….

Slow going - no wonder my trimmer mate wasn’t interested in doing it Image

Getting there …….. once I got a rhythm going it wasn’t too bad

And there you go ! Took nearly 3 hours after Drew (trimmer) said it would take an hour or so . Hope the knots stay tied or I will be doing it again …..

Yeah - I would like to get one made a couple of inches smaller for the 2 door - Pearlcraft can do it but $$$$$$$ , and the cost of making a custom horn ring would be crippling I would reckon :esurprised:

Garry in our club, green and white FB wagon, cut one down a bit and made a wood rim. Didn’t have to touch the horn ring as it is just a bit smaller. Lot of work though. Looks nice.

Looks tidy mate

I have an XP Falcon outer on a 49 Merc wheel for my Coupe

Finding the outer the correct diameter would be the challenge
