Booting the car along at the speed limit, I’m noticing a tail shaft vibration when I back off. That is better than noticing it under load and it is reminiscent of most every early Holden I can recall driving. But maybe with the lowering blocks, I could try tilting the pinion up 1.5 degrees. There are other noises I can’t help noticing. High pitched rattle behind the dash when I hit any bumps.

Still the occasional rub on bumpy 100kph back roads.

Looks good. Gotta ask ……….. how come both rear indicator lights are on? Noticed it in an earlier post.

Special photo effect Stephen. They’re wired as reverse lights.

Run out of stout 🥲

Old deco picture theatre on the espy at Lorne. Image
I could see the surf from my table at the pub. I like this place. Pity no coopers stout. Image

Fantastic driving this morning, from Lorne to Apollo Bay, hardly a car on the road, clear and still. It is a very nice curvy road but in pretty bad condition, with bump hazards and disintegrating pavement throughout. Car going like a dream apart from the high pitched rattle squeak that seems to be emanating from somewhere in front of me. ImageHell of a feat building this road. Surf check at petticoat creek.

Picnic lunch outside Portland in the cold fresh offshore wind. McLaren Vale Shiraz will have to do now I’m out of stout.

My mates at Hamilton had a busy weekend so filled up at Warnambool and booted it on along the coast through Nelson. Close to Mount Gambier I spontaneously decided to take The HV bypass, zig zagging the empty back roads at 110. Booked a motel at Robe on the run. Took the Millicent bypass on to the Princes Hwy then realised I was nearly out of fuel. Over 60km to my motel and no fuel open. I had five litres in the boot so calculating in my head that would get me 37km driving conservatively. Car ran out 32km from Robe, so I put the 5 litres in and drove sedately to the motel.

Filled up this morning and it seemed like there was still 1 1/2 litres left in the tank. Image
The drive up the Coorong is another of my favourites. Good to get on some decent uncrowded SA highways with 110kph limit. Quick coffee and quiche at Meningie. Image
Home by noon. Image
Bit sad at home as Elle ended up having to put old Monty down last Saturday.

Will give the car a clean out maybe pull the carpet and dry it out. Wheel alignment needs looking at as both tyres have worn on the outer edges. Passenger side is worse.
