I know exactly what you mean. Been there done that with the stuck accelerator. Consider sticking Velcro on the back of the kick panel.

Did a run to the club meeting during the week, then down to Milang and Hidmarsh Island this morning. Apart from a few minor vibrations and a notchy brake pedal, all seems good. Averaged 13litres/100km or 22.6mpg. I was hoping for better. Yet to change springs, but picked up this item at Milang.
Small chamber head in what looks pretty good condition.

my very poor high school math tells me Frank gets about 14 litres/100 Ks
Clay I was reading an article the other day about high output coils it said using hire output coils allows you to use a wider gap on your spark plugs which helps with or improves fuel economy, hopefully one of the brains trust can elaborate more about this.
I run the plugs in Frank at 1mm but I’m going to try running them bigger and see how it goes.

It is not very lumpy mate. Very similar to the previous grind. Peak torque @2600 I believe. I’m running VH Bosch electronic dissy. You can run them at 1.5mm, which I reckon I am, but I’m up for a plug change. Also, I changed the flywheel to a lighter one. I can’t say if I’ve noticed a difference but full throttle is pretty scary between 2 and 4K. I’ve been running it in, up and down the rev range. The mains were pretty tight. I’m not unhappy with the mileage.

Ive tried all the spark plug gaps and timing etc but the only true way to get the best out of a motor is on the dyno.
At the end of the day its the cubes and gearing that dictate the consumption, on old engines anyway. The other thing is the more power you have the more pedal pressing goes on, its in our nature !!

There seemed to be something sticking in the booster. I am hoping it will free up and seems to have done so far.

Long range tank conversion for the big trip west.
83 litres. Chasing another 40 litres to get from Penong to Norseman. Apparently empty petrol containers are verboten on transport home.
